MTN Increases Prices Of SME data Plans

06:15 0
Hey Guys, Mtn yesterday reviewed some of their data plans which would in turn affect some certain set of subscribers drastically.

MTN dropped the bomb shell of increasing the price of their SME data share from August 21, 2018 which has gather bad feelings already.

READ ALSO:

Below is the message MTN sent to all SME data dealers

"Dear Customer, from August 21, 2018, the following prices will apply to MTN SME Data Share: 10GB at N7,500; 20GB at N14,000; 50GB at N30,000. Thank you."
According to the message the 10GB and 20GB plans would only be affected and price increased by 1000Naira while the 50GB plan remains unaffected. Below is the breakdown of the plans

✅ 10GB
Old Price = N6,500
New Price = N7,500

✅ 20GB
Old Price = N13,000
New Price = N14,000

✅ 50GB is unaffected and remains at old price N30,000.

Although the new prices would not take effect until 21st August 2018, which is a little bit harsh on the SME data dealers and the Consumers, The data dealers would definitely increase the prices of their data which might create a little problem for the subscribers.

SME data is a source of cheap data and instead of going for the official data plans most subscribers would opt for SME data and m SME data dealers might lose subscribers/ customers as there might be a thin line between the SME data and the Official data plans.

What do you think about this, Have Your Say!

14:57 7
Over the years, Mtn has proved to be the best network when it comes to internet data plans in Nigeria, Mtn data plans are affordable internet data plans compared to 9mobile data plans, Glo data plans and Airtel data plans.

THIS POST WAS UPDATED 16TH OCTOBER, 2017

Mtn Data Plan Bundles rammyblog.com.ng

Well , Mtn do not offer the cheapest Data plans in Nigeria, However Glo offers the cheapest data plans in the country but their bad network in some part of Nigeria is the constraint with Glo data bundles, and we all know Mtn is everywhere you go, Their network is stable in most part of Nigeria and you would not regret choosing their data plan, what is the essence of subscribing to a data plan you would not finish due to poor network? With Mtn you would enjoy full access to the internet without restrictions.

The part of Mtn data plans that i love most is the Data Rollover.

Data Rollover: MTN now allows you to rollover your unused internet data to the next month subscription. To do this simply auto-renew your data subscription before it expires and your unused data is automatically moved to the next month. But this is only applicable to monthly plans.

Mtn has different categories of data plans and bundles which includes daily, weekly, monthly, weekend and night plans. The daily plans is valid for  24 hours, the weekly would be valid 7 days, the Monthly data plans has a validity of 30 days and the newly introduced time based plans which allows you stream YouTube for certain time.

Glo Complete List Of Data Plan, Bundles, Subscription Codes And Prices

04:10 1
It is no longer news that Glo, Self proclaimed grandmasters of data offers Nigeria the cheapest data plans, I personally refer to Glo has the game changer not only because they offer the cheapest data plans in Nigeria but they made other telecoms operators like MTN, 9MOBILE (formerly Etisalat) and Airtel review their data plans also.
Glo data

Like i stated earlier, Glo offers the cheapest data plans compared to Mtn data plans, 9mobile data plans, and Airtel data plans imagine getting 30MB for just N50, 1.6GB for just N500, 3.2GB for N1000 e.t.c, unreal right? That is how cheap Glo data plans are.

The part i enjoy most is the data booster plan for android and PC, If you are out of data before the end of your validity or probably need more data added to your current data plan, Glo got you covered as you can get up 1GB for N500 or 300MB for just N200. Below is the message you would receive from Glo concerning the data booster.

Are you out of data before the end of your validity or you just want added data to your current plan? Boost your data plan by 1GB for just N500 OR by 300MB for just N200. Dial *777# to buy extra data (1GB Data Plan Boost is for 1GB plans or higher)”

Glo has different varieties of data plans and bundles which includes daily, weekly, monthly, weekend and night plans. The daily plans is valid for  24 hours, the weekly would be valid 7 days, the Monthly data plans has a validity of 30 days while  the weekend data and Night plans only last from Saturday to Sunday and it could be used as a night plan during this period and the night plans from the name suggests it can only be used in the night.

How To Get 9Mobile 1GB Data For Just N200 And 5GB for N1000

21:10 12
Like i said in all my previous post concerning 9mobile, There are trying to gather more customers back and build a more reputable name for themselves, But as a smart Nigerian we have to take advantage of their sorry situation and make the best out of it. Like a wise man once said "Enjoy It While It Last"

9Mobile has been bringing back all the goodies Etisalat offered us back in the days, and they are making it even more better, remember the "RAMADAN SPECIAL OFFER" where etisalat gave out 1GB worth of data for just N200 to celebrate the day.

Well, it was discontinued shortly after the Ramadan festivities but 9Mobile in their mercies has just brought it back, as you can now you can resubscribe to 9Mobile 1GB data for just N200!. This data plan is legit and you can use it for any internet enabled device , Android, iOS, Laptops, Modems, Blackberry, BB10, Windows Phone, Symbian/Java phones; Cool Right. OH, You thought i forgot about the 5gb for N1000....., Well, think otherwise because. like i said earlier we should take full advantage of this gesture as we don't know when we might get another one. "Companies Like Etisalat do not fail everyday"

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO 9MOBILE 5GB DATA FOR N1000.
Its simple, as you just need to accumulate the 1gb for N200 plan, i.e
    • Make Sure You have up to N1000 on your sim

The MTN Youtube Hourly Data Plan are of two categories in which both are very affordable,

Recession: Nigerians spend N197bn monthly on Just internet data

    08:00 3
Telecoms subscribers in Nigeria spend over N197 billion on internet data every month, Daily Trust’s analysis of mobile users’ average data usage per month has shown.

The big four GSM operators - MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile - and other smaller mobile operators have a total active subscribers base of 149.3 million, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The latest Monthly Subscriber/Operator Data released by the regulator last month showed that MTN had 58,121,427 users, and Glo 37,270,100 customers, Airtel 34,336,802 while 9mobile has 19,621,806 users. The remaining figures were shared between the other smaller operators.
But only 92m of the 149.5m subscribers are active internet users, and they depend on data provided by the telcos to access the world-wide-web and hook on to the social media, information on the NCC’s website showed.
As at June, MTN had 31.7m internet users, Glo 27.2m, Airtel 20.2m while 9mobile had 12.6m, and the smaller operators shared the remaining figures
Findings by Daily Trust from the four GSM operators revealed conservative estimates of category of data users and how much they spent on data monthly.
About 70% of internet users or 64m use up to N1000 data monthly each, raising the operators’ revenue base by N64bn.

Also, about 15% or 13.8m users, mostly small business owners and middle class people, each purchase an average of N3000 data monthly, contributing N41.1bn every month to the telcos’ coffers.
Similarly, 10% of the internet subscribers or 9.15m use N5000 each every month, growing the operators’ revenue by N45.6bn.
About 5% of the internet customers or 4.6m buy N10,000 data each, increasing the GSM and mobile internet companies’ revenue by N46bn, according to findings made by our reporter.
Over N2.3 trillion is garnered through data alone by the telcos every year, according to the monthly data revenue figures.
However, a study backed by Mozilla and carried out by Research ICT Africa on financial reality of internet usage in Nigeria said higher income users pay between $3.17 and $9.52 per month, whereas low income users pay as low as US7 cents per month.
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has repeatedly categorised Nigerian telecom industry among one of the fastest growing in the world.
Its latest ranking placed the percentage of Nigerians with internet users at 11.40%, while about 50% individuals in the country are now able to access the internet.
The ITU’s Secretary General Mr Houlin Zhao said Nigeria was the toast of telecom investors because the country’s telecom industry continued to record quantum growth every quarter.
But the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has recently cried out, saying the activities of Over The Top (OTT) operators were seriously eating into their voice and data revenue.
OTTs are firms like Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media networks.
Engr Gbenga Adebayo, ALTON chairman, said if NCC did not act fast to salvage the Nigerian telcos from the danger posed to their operations by OTT, the telecom industry may witness a decline in fortunes.

Nigerians Should Expect Revised Data Price Soon - NCC

    06:38 0
The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has said Nigerians should expect a new data price as soon as an on-going cost-based research is concluded.

This was disclosed in Abuja by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Umar Garba Dambatta during a chat with DAILY POST.

He said this was necessary in order to forestall a price war in the data sub-segment of the telecommunications industry. This Price war Prevention was the reason Glo Reviewed their data plan

Dambatta disclosed that the commission was looking at other temporary measures in other to ensure that data services improved.

He Said “We have noticed that the level of data usage is growing. This attests to the earlier assertion by the NCC that data is going to be the next frontier.

“You recall that NCC attempted to do the interim price floor for data in order to ensure that we do not have a price war in the data sub-segment of the industry.

“This of course met with resistance from the consumers; and because the NCC is a listening agency, we suspended the interim price floor.

“As I am talking to you, there is a cost-based study going on in order to arrive at an accepted, affordable data price floor which will come into force as soon as the consultants’ work is concluded.

“That is, as soon as the outcome of this consultancy that is on-going over data price is discussed, as usual, and is further consulted upon with other stakeholders who we expect will provide useful information towards arriving at an acceptable price floor for data.

“We are also looking at other temporary measures in other to ensure that data services improve.

“We are thinking about providing palliatives to smaller operators in the industry. I mean those with about 7.5 percent share of the market.

“We are in discussion with them in order to see how we can help them to provide data services in different part of the country even as we are talking with bigger operators to ensure that we find a way to improve the quality of data services.”
